Senior Estimator - High End Residential£40,000 - £80,000 + BonusesEdinburghMy client is a leading force in the construction industry in Edinburgh & the Lothians, dedicated to delivering high-quality bespoke residential builds, renovations and extensions. Due to a period of continual growth and the large number of projects that have been brought my client has identified the need for a new Senior Estimator to join their growing team.The role is mainly office based; however, you will be required to carry out site visits at the estimate stage and during construction.The Duties:Daily tasks will change depending on the day and the project but can consist of:
* Creating detailed estimates from drawings using.
* Completing tenders issued by external Architects.
* Getting prices for special orders that plug into your estimate.
* Site visits pre-estimate.
* Making use of relevant computer software such as Excel, Word, and Autodesk DWG TrueView and any future estimating packages.
* Update the master rates sheet with real time rates.
*
The successful candidate will be expected to prepare tenders and undertake take offs from construction drawings, reading drawings, understanding specifications and using excel to a good standard.
* For secured projects attending handover meetings with surveying, design and management.
* Maintaining accurate records of tender submissions, tender queries and RFI's.
* Meeting client on-site to negotiate best price and understand requirements.
* Researching materials, equipment and labour costs.The Requirements
* Proven experience as an Estimator, and extensive knowledge of residential construction.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationships with clients, staff and Directors.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional time management skills.
* Resilience, determination, and the ability to work well under pressure.
* Good commercial awareness.
* Good numeracy and data analysis skills.
* Have a practical, logical, and methodical approach to work.
* Attention to detail.
* Being open and willing to change.
* You have a full driving licence.
* Computer literate- especially in Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Good professional telephone skills with smart appearance.What's In It for You
