About the company
The group I am recruiting for has a turnover of £1 billion and is split into five different divisions. The civils part of the business is turning over £750M. The sectors that they work within include major infrastructure projects, energy, rail, roads and highways, surfacing, and maintenance contracts.
The company is involved in projects like HS2, an Eco park in north London, an oil refinery for Esso, and council contracts, ranging from £500,000 up to £300M. They also have long-term frameworks of up to 20 years with clients like Highways England,
Grid, TFL and the Eastern Highways Alliance.
About the role
Due to ongoing growth, my client is looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join the SHEQ team. You will be working closely with the Head of Environment as well as the project director, someone who has over 15 years of experience in the industry which means you will be learning correctly. She is also a professional and likable individual which means your job will be more enjoyable.
You will be based out of the Bristol or Swindon office and will be working on the CP7 framework which consists of many small packages of work ranging from embankment stabilisation, vegetation clearance to rockfall protection. You will be working on the project from design stage through to delivery. This role will not involve managing a team and there is lots of growth possible as you progress through the company with the possibility of moving into an environmental manager role. This is a rail based project and experience of working within rail is important.
Your day to day duties will involve taking a strategic lead in the sustainability strategy for the business, ensuring environmental minimum requirements are met with the adoption and sharing of best practices and lessons learned shared across the business/industry as well as delivering environmental and sustainability training to all levels within the project team. This isn’t just a role, this is a career opportunity for someone who is looking to develop but also looking for an opportunity where they can make a difference and an impact within a business.
Benefits and Rewards
The group has a long track record of stability within the company as well as looking after their employees to a very high standard. You’ll be working for a company where they will want you to work up the ladder and progress through the company.
You’ll be rewarded with a very competitive salary which ranges from £48,000- £52,000 + package.
Requirements
You will be required to have a good standard of education preferably to degree qualified or Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC) in a relevant field to the industry. Qualifications in either PIEMA or REnvP would be ideal.
Ideally, I am looking for someone with at least 1 year of experience working as a senior environmental advisor for a UK-based Civil Engineering contractor
