Senior Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly collaborative, suitably qualified and experienced Senior Engineering Manager for a major project, on a key strategic, delivery partner framework in the UK defence industry.
The successful candidate will lead a team of ca. 40-50 engineers and technicians, delivering Engineering solutions for a new manufacturing facility, which is currently in the detailed design and procurement phase, with ambitious schedule-driven timescales for completion and handover.
This position will require regular attendance in our Reading and Stockton-on-Tees offices, with frequent site visits to develop stakeholder requirements and build critical relationships for success.
Responsibilities related to engineering management, including:
Scoping, estimating, and scheduling activities for various engineering disciplines.
Identification and mobilisation of skilled engineering resources.
Managing discipline teams to adhere to budget and schedule.
Leading progress meetings.
Ensuring design configuration changes are assessed promptly.
Coordinating multi-discipline design.
Organising and documenting design/safety review meetings.
Ensuring compliance with safety legislation and engineering standards.
Additionally, the role involves supporting the achievement of socio-economic targets within the project framework.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree qualified, chartered member of a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IET, IEEE, IChemE, ICE, IMechE, etc.).
10 years+ experience in an engineering management role having direct influence over-engineering practices and outcomes.
Willingness to undertake UK Security Vetting ‘DV’ level clearance would be a benefit for future project stages.
Knowledge of client processes with staged project delivery and funding sanctions.
Understanding of the ‘Designer’ and ‘Principal Designer’ duty holder’s responsibilities under the CDM (#####) regulations.
