The Senior Engineer is an integral position within Infrastructure’s Engineering Department, recognised industry-wide for its expertise and collaborative behaviour. We are looking for an individual who is technically proficient, is familiar with working on major highway scheme designs and will provide support and guidance to both internal and external customers.
Duties and responsibilities:
 Understand and realise VRS requirements, standards and specifications; and ensure compliance.  Produce designs, calculations and specifications using the appropriate software and in accordance with national standards and codes.
 Support with the assessment of and ensure compliance with scheme specific VRS requirements.  Support the wider business (e.g. Sales, Contracts, Operations and Production teams) from a technical and engineering perspective.
 Engage with customers, including Scheme Designers, Scheme Delivery Partners, Highways Authorities, Product Installers and Product Specifiers.
 Demonstrate both technical and commercial awareness in the selection of the most appropriate VRS solution.
 Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and site visits.
Core competencies :
 A robust working knowledge of the DMRB standards, associated guidance and general highways practices.
 The ability to collaborate with highways design teams to the highest appropriate technical standards.
 Proven experience of working within a design consultancy.
 An appropriate higher education qualification in civil and/or structural engineering.
 A strong technical understanding with the ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload, while also being able to work independently.
 Able to operate in a fast-paced organisation and be experienced in delivering high quality technical information with a focus on deadlines.
 Good communication skills.
 A willingness to suggest and champion new processes and ideas.
