Location: Bristol with hybrid working
Salary: £46,500 - £57,000
Working Hours: Monday to Friday
Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit a Senior Engineer (Submarine SQEP) on a permanent basis to predominantly be based in Bristol but with the option of WFH.
Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Product Assurance (Safety & Environmental Assessments / Reports) for In-Service Submarine (ISM) design. Change Alterations and Additions (A&A’s), Class Modifications (CMs) and Minor Trials (MTs).
  • Submarine Systems Design Safety Justifications (DSJs).
  • In-Service Submarines (ISM) High Level Hazard (HLH) Management Coordination.
  • General safety advice/steerage and support to CE (Submarine Design).
  • Submarine Safety Support to other Business Units (BUs) as required.
  • Safety Advice and support to the Laid-up Submarine (LUSM) Project and Waterfront Organisation.
  • Provide expertise and support in own engineering specialisation to other members of the safety team.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • This is not a Health & Safety or SHEF type role, it requires an extensive engineering background in the RN Submarine field. The following key skills and experience are also required:
  • Knowledge of MOD Health Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) Policy and regulations ASEMS, POSMS and POEMS. DSA 01 and DSA 02.
  • Knowledge of the In-Service Submarines (ISM) High Level Hazard (HLH) Management process.
  • Knowledge of applicable Defence Standards and Joint Service Publications (JSPs) such as 00-056 (Safety Management Requirements for Defence Systems).
  • Excellent technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and recording skills.
  • Good knowledge of Naval Engineering in RN submarines.
  • Experienced in multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Good people management skills.
  • Good team player but able to plan and work alone.
  • Prepared and able to make decisions in own sphere of responsibility.
  • Displays flexibility, enthusiasm, drive and commitment.
  • Professional in all actions.
  • Able to produce outputs to Quality, Time, and Budget.
  • Good influencing skills and customer focus.
  • Committed to ensuring design safety and prepared to challenge output when required.
  • Desire to learn new skills in support of role.
  • Self-motivated.
