As a Senior Engineer within the Three Data services team, you will be accountable for the design, performance and lifecycle management of the 3G, 4G & 5GC elements and architectures within the Data Core domain. The role will involve working closely with business stakeholders, Strategy and Architecture teams, as well as Delivery and Operational partners to ensure the solutions meet the business requirements and are captured, understood, and deployed into the Three UK core networkAs a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to:Work with the Technical Design Authorities to build and prioritise 18 month technical roadmap.Work with partners to manage the performance and capacity of the technical domain.Build and manage excellent working relationships with our partners to drive delivery of our current and future needs.Work with the project management function & third parties to drive the delivery of projects, ensuring the delivery of the solutions conforms to contractual outcomes and timescales.Job DescriptionAccountable for the design and Lifecycle Management of the 3G, 4G & 5GC elements and architectures within the Data CoreProvide technical support to the various teams and the supplier in governing the solution architecture and ensuring solution design meets the business outcomes.Will have hands on, day to day understanding and technical subject matter experience of their areaDemonstrate specialist knowledge required for the role including relevant standards, regulations, frameworks, technologies and processes. Will be able to demonstrate implementing and making recommendations for improvements that are in line with strategies.Manage the relationship with our partners and developing this to meet our current and future needs.Work with operation teams to progress fault investigations and maintain the existing & Telco Cloud Networks.QualificationsDemonstrable experience of providing technical, decision making and problem-solving skills for a technical domain and demonstrate setting technical direction and quality/standards for delivery and design.Demonstrate the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders within the organisation to act as the liaison between the business, other technical communities, and the 3rd party teams to ensure the delivery of the business requirements. This should include the ability to convert business requirements into a technical solution and vice versa.Experience in working in an environment where you have managed delivery to a predetermined contractual/ business outcome and know how to influence/negotiate technical outcomes with 3rd parties, including conflict resolution due to changing priorities.You will have provided direction in large technical delivery programmes that include complex integrations spanning multiple technology domains and stakeholders, including working with a Systems Integrator to deliver contracted outcomes.Domain specific knowledge & experience:Excellent working knowledge of 3G, LTE & 5GC data networks on an end-to-end basis.Good understanding of 3GPP standards, specifically round the EPC core domains.Good understanding of VNF & CNF cloud architectures.Good understanding of cloud deployments and onboarding of Data Core VNFs.Good understanding of containerized deployments and onboarding of Data Core ApplicationsGood understanding of VMware Tanzu, OpenStack, OpenShift & Kubernetes implementationsGood working knowledge of key control and user plane protocols, including SIP, GTP, Radius, Diameter, TCP and HTTPWorking knowledge of IP networks.Good working knowledge of MVNO solutions across mobile networks.Deployment of key network systems through the full delivery lifecycle from initial design to full operational handover.Good practical skills in troubleshooting and fault resolution.Analytical capabilities and business acumen.Strong decision-making skills with the ability to balance and resolve conflicts of interest.Additional InformationCompetitive annual salary, a performance based annual bonus & an additional 'flexible allowance' to spend on additional benefits, topping up your pension, or to be added to your salary.Hybrid working between your home (2-3 days a week) and our brand new Reading HQ office at Green Park (2-3 days a week)28 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + 3 personal days annually, which increases with length of servicePrivate Medical Insurance, Life Assurance and Income ProtectionFree on-site car parkingPlus lots more including well-being and learning & development benefits!Salary range for this role start's at £40,960, and exact salary will differ by job and experienceOur people make us who we are. This allows employees to have a start time between 08:00 and 10:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 18:30.
