JOB DESCRIPTIONCLOSING DATE 22 MAY 2024As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will utilise your technical knowledge and professional experience as a key member of the Electrical design team within a global engineering group which is responsible for delivering a range of world class leading innovative engineering designs and solutions for Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment to satisfy customers. Acting under the guidance of the Principal Engineer, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer produces these solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical system designs using advanced CAE tools wherever appropriate in all phases of a project lifecycle from proposals to completion. An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, attention to detail, ability to work effectively with other team members, a keen focus on delivery and the ability to turn fast paced, client-driven requirements into profitable solutions, along with a solid awareness of modern manufacturing technologies and practises are all critical to success in this role. You will be focused on customers' needs both internal and external and act as a focal point for technical matters on assigned projects. You should be keen to take on fresh challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as constantly expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting projects. Crucial to this role will be your ability to contribute to continual improvement processes, enhancing efficiency and performance within your team, and working in line with our business strategy.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop customised customer-centric designs Carry out Electrical Engineering design, analysis, testing & validation as required Plan and lead design projects as allocated by the Principal Engineer with minimal supervision Prepare detailed cost estimates and ensure all designs are completed within budget Ensure designs produced are efficient and cost effective, seeking to reuse existing designs and components wherever practical Prepare, check and approve associated engineering documents in accordance with engineering group policy, (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports, calculations, compliance documentation and technical files) Participate in sales contract reviews & internal design review meetings, being aware of commercial implications Attend and participate in client meetings, always ensuring customer care is the foremost priority Ensure all assigned deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements and established contract requirements Prepare Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification Develop and lead test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs Ensure Engineering Change procedures are implemented thoroughly, ensuring minimum disruption to the business at all times. Lead the investigation, resolution and documentation of Engineering queries or problems including through Engineering Support functions in a timely and technically acceptable fashion Remain aware and involved in the latest developments within the industry and the greater engineering world to identify any potential concepts that could be incorporated into new designs
Support other departments and business units both locally and globally and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by the line manager Travel required as dictated by project needs (worldwide travel) for client meetings, and to provide site installation, commissioning and testing support or other related activity as required QUALIFICATIONS: Degree Level BEng (Hons) or equivalent in Electrical or related Engineering such as Electronic, Mechatronic (essential) Pass at Class 2:1 or above - you will be required to provide proof of qualification at interviewEXPERIENCE:
Experience in a similar position Experience in leading Electrical design projects within multi-disciplinary teams Design & troubleshoot electromechanical systems Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment and within the Energy IndustryFluent knowledge of the following would be an advantage:- The Energy Industry and operations, specifically Wireline Intervention and completion methods Wireline winches, masts and associated product designs Design of Electrical systems Preparing detailed technical files complying with European Regulations.SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough understanding of engineering documents and drawings Working knowledge of Eplan or AutoCAD Electrical Thorough knowledge of ISO9001
