Senior Developer – Hybrid Role
Are you a passionate Senior Developer looking to make a tangible difference? Join a dynamic team at one of the world's most prominent NGO's, where your technical expertise will drive impactful solutions for a meaningful cause. This role offers the flexibility of a hybrid contract, allowing you to work from home two-three days a week.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As a Senior Developer, you will be pivotal in advancing our mission to create positive social change. You will harness cutting-edge technologies to develop digital products and services, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and efficient. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will translate stakeholder requirements into robust software solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain existing and new digital products and services within our Javascript/TypeScript stack, including NodeJS for backend (deployed as AWS Lambda functions) and ReactJS for frontend (using headless CMS via Contentful).
Design software solutions to meet product requirements for both internal and external stakeholders, potentially extending beyond the existing stack.
Maintain our engineering toolset, including CI/CD pipelines (currently Concourse), testing stack (Playwright), and technical administration of our PaaS (AWS).
Work as part of an Agile delivery team.
Engage with open source and technology communities to inform our technology practices and strategy.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Professional experience in developing Javascript applications.
Proficiency in some or all of the following technologies: NodeJS, Typescript (desirable but not essential), React, Github, Serverless Framework, MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, AWS, CI tools such as Concourse/Travis/CodePipeline.
Understanding of microservices-based architectures.
Experience in writing code to collect, process, transform, and store user data, with an understanding of best practices and relevant legislation.
Commitment to our organisation's aims and values.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Experience working in a nonprofit or philanthropic organisation.
Knowledge of PowerBI, Aperture Data Studio.
Salesforce certification(s) such as Salesforce Certified Developer.
Experience using Github for source control.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
