Senior Developer

Insight Investment is looking for a Senior Developer to join the growing team in Manchester. As part of the Guideline Technology Solutions product team using Agile methodologies (Scrum), C#/.NET and TypeScript, you will assist the development manager in the day to day running of the team and be involved in all aspects of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) for the applications and services owned by the GTS team. This is a split role where some of your time will be spent helping to manage the team.

Role Responsibilities
Assist the Development Manager in day-to-day activities related to software delivery
Work with the Product Owner to prioritise and plan sprints
Participate in and, where appropriate, lead meetings with business stakeholders
Provide technical advice to other Developers in GTS and the wider department
Take ownership for driving change and innovation, bring relevant teams together and lead workshops and team ceremonies
Assess and recommend architectural patterns based on functional and non-functional requirements
Present information concisely to individuals within and outside of the Technology function
Mentor the wider team to support the Team lead and help optimise team performance
Experience Required
Proven experience in a delivery lead, scrum master role or other split responsibility role where some of your time has been dedicated to team management.
Expertise in C# / .NET (including .NET Framework)
Experience working with SQL and EF Core
Experience of development in React.js / TypeScript / JEST
Experience with Azure PaaS services
Experience working in Agile teams performing iterative development and refining your own work as a team
Fundamentals and approaches: OOP, SOLID principles, TDD/BDD/ATDD
DVCS with Git (GitHub)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, Octopus, Github Actions Workflows)
Ability to collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and team members.
Pair/Mob programming and performing peer code reviews
Demonstrate initiative and independence to solve problems
Stand by software engineering principles around quality and doing things the right way
Have a constant desire to improve knowledge and drive adoption of new tech or approaches within the team
Be able to communicate abstract or complex ideas or solutions effectively
