Senior Design Engineer

Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer, to join their existing team in Devonport, hybrid working on an initial 6 month contract.The RoleThe main purpose of the role is to provide technical engineering support and advice, and lead design activities relating to process engineering supporting dockyard facilities. This includes the maintenance and control of modifications to the design intent of nuclear process plant and equipment across DRDs Nuclear Licensed Site and the MoD's Authorised Site. As a Senior Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:Management and development of a small team of Design EngineersDevelopment and delivery of designs in accordance with the design process (Start-up, Concept, Scheme, Detailed and Implementation phases)Managing the production, checking and approval of technical documentation and drawingsLeading engineering analyses including calculations, component structural analysis and system fluid flow simulation/analysisEnsuring compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, statutory legislation and design codes/standardsProviding through-life technical support for nuclear process assetsEstimating, prioritising and producing work schedules/project programmesYouTo succeed within the role of a Senior Design Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:Minimum of an HND/FdSc/FdEng or equivalent in a mechanical/process engineering discipline and be professionally registered with an engineering institutionUnderstanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation and maintenance of pressure/pipework systemsKnowledge of the design lifecycleKnowledge of the general regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to nuclear process and pressure system designKnowledge of project specification, planning and budgetingPlease note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance.
