Our client have seen immense growth year on year, with offices located around the UK, they provide an innovative approach to their clients nationally. This company offers services ranging from private high voltage connections and maintenance to multiple new connections across Electricity, Gas, Telecoms, Water and EV Charging.The RoleAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the technical output of the Design Engineers and undertake your own projects, which will be of a complex or high value nature. Reporting to the Design Manager you will be involved in the coaching and training of individuals whilst keeping up to date with industry standards. You will promote value engineering and authorise the design checks of others.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce compliant designs in accordance with customer requirements and industry standardsUnderstand, apply and train others on ENA, DNO & IDNO G81 design standards and engineering recommendationsCoach and support junior members on the team with client interactions and meetingsProcess job specific cost estimates for variations and contract changesAuthorise project spends within your DOAG limitsAuthorise design checks for othersPromote value engineering and better ways or working within the teamMonitor and maintain design standardsEnsure staff are working in line with the company policies and BMS, and develop this in line with industry changesEnsure all design work is carried out in line with NERS accreditationsEnsure all design drawings passed to the Construction arm of the business are buildable and in line with project financialsEscalate problems in a timely manner to minimise business exposureExperience & QualitiesEssential:HND or degree in an electrical disciplineExperience of 11kV & LV design to a high level of quality and customer satisfactionExperience of earthing designs across multiple DNO regionsProven track record of authorising design checks across multiple DNO regionsDemonstratable competency in the physical and practical application of electrical installationsAbility to effectively communicate design requirements to clients, Project Managers and site teamsDesirable:Achieved or working towards Incorporated Engineer professional status with the IETAbility to recognise gaps in business processes and develop and implement new systems to allow the effective delivery of projectsWorking knowledge and experience of private electricity networksAbility to recognise gaps in own or others competencies, be it technical or soft skillsAbility to coach and train junior engineersAbility to multitask and prioritise own complex workload with needs of the teamKnowledge of multi-core scheduling, protection schemes for 33-11kV primary substationsPerks & Commitments:Full Time, Permanent roleMonday - Friday 8:30am - 17:00pm (40 hours per week)25 days holiday + bank holidays as standardUp to 3 extra days holiday for long service - 2 years +1, 5 years +1, 10 years +1The option to purchase an additional 5 days holiday per year5% employer pension contribution2x Death in Service CoverCycle to work schemePrivate health cover, half paid for by the company, and fully paid after 3 years
