We’re looking for a Senior Data Strategist to be responsible for working with marketing clients and colleagues to develop and deliver data and insight activities, centred on CRM targeting, personalisation, media optimisation, measurement and optimisation across multiple digital, technology and media channels.
They will be the ‘glue’ integrating data and analytics with broader marketing strategy to develop connected data-inspired action across the end to end of marketing – from creative, media and CRM/CXM experiences.
Collaboration is key to this role - working closely with analysts, strategists, account and campaign delivery teams as well as multiple client stakeholders across varied projects.
This opportunity would suit a data-driven, hands on and enthusiastic problem-solver with an eye for detail, and the ability to lead senior technical projects, delivering data-driven marketing solutions. With a great learning opportunity to work alongside the Head of Data Strategy and CDO, who will train and develop your capabilities.
The role will be based in MSQ’s London office (Covent Garden) typically two to three days per week, with the remaining days working from home.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
Build relationships with client stakeholders and internal MSQ agencies to promote, develop and manage data and analysis deliverables:
Data discovery and analysis projects to unify consumer data and develop insights to inform strategy and drive targeting
Lead clients by developing industry leading data strategies and roadmaps to propel client marketing activities forward
Develop cross-channel customer journeys and experiences, using data strategy and analytical expertise to inform on areas such as data enrichment, personalisation and decisioning and marketing automation
Define frameworks to measure marketing effectiveness, set KPIs, benchmarks, targets and forecast to support business cases
Define and set up reporting and analysis processes and deliverables that meet client objectives
Develop campaign targeting plans and briefs to internal or 3rd party campaign delivery teams
Build and run analysis of customer data, leveraging both customer databases as well as digital and social analytics tools
Measure, evaluate and optimise marketing activity using best practice testing methodologies where necessary
Be the clients’ trusted advisor on all things data and make it easy for clients to make business decisions – based on data insight and a simplified approach to insight-driven recommendations
Drive strategy across all channels and touch points moving from email, push and SMS channels to a connected communications plan encompassing digital media including social, mobile and website. As well as omnichannel across paid media channels (Search, display, VOD.)
Present frequently to clients and attend client meetings
Management of a digital insight analyst
Supporting the groups new business pitches and conducting research using the group’s third party digital and survey-based analysis tools (YouGov, Quid, Meltwater, Keyword.IO)
About you
You will ideally have considerable experience across data strategy, with strong business acumen and insight generation and storytelling capabilities. You will have experience of strategy development, marketing effectiveness measurement and optimisation, customer relationship and digital marketing.
Extensive experience in data function, preferably within an agency environment or similar with transferable experience
Experience managing complex data, analytical and technology projects
Deep understanding of media, digital, social and CRM marketing for delivering ROI and positive commercial outcomes for clients
Hands-on experience using Website analytics & digital testing tools to unlock user insight (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
Strategic thinker with strong knowledge of CRM and digital media marketing
Advanced experience with data visualisation tools and dashboarding design (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
Analytics capabilities: leveraging SQL / Excel for data manipulation
Understanding of Marketing technology ecosystem and experience consulting to improve design (CDP, DAM, CRM, Data Layers, Analytics environments, CMS)
Autonomous working style with the ability to take initiative and innovate
Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to explain the technical details of data and analytics in a non-technical way to people outside the discipline
Well organised, numerical and high attention to detail, all whilst working to strict deadlines
Strong proposal writing skills with a financial mindset
An enthusiastic and collaborative mentality; passionate about working with other disciplines to produce the best outcomes for clients and keen to learn
Hands-on experience implementing and using the following capabilities would be

Campaign Management tools (CRM), in particular, Salesforce, Adobe
DCO & DAM solutions (e.g. Bynder, Jivox)
CDP’s (e.g. Salesforce, Twilio Segment)
Analytic platforms (e.g. Azure, Dataiku)
Social analytics tools (e.g. Netbase, Quid, BrandWatch, Meltwater)
Intelligence tools (e.g. GWI, YouGov, TGI)
Data analysis tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL)
Digital marketing platforms (e.g. FB Ads Manager (Meta), LinkedIn, Google Ads)
