RoleDepop is looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist to join our Search & Ranking team in the UK. As part of the Search & Ranking team you will work alongside a Product Manager, Backend Engineers and other Data Scientists playing a key role in building state-of-the-art models to power Depop's search engine and ranking across the app.ResponsibilitiesYou will:Research, design and deliver machine learning solutions to tackle problems within the search & discovery space:Learning-to-rank modelsVector search & embedding modelsetc.Understand requirements from various stakeholders across the business, designing machine learning solutions to solve business problems, such as:How can we surface relevant results for this search?How can we show users personalised results in real time?What is the right price for this user?Set up and conduct large-scale experiments to test hypotheses and drive product developmentKeep up to date with state-of-the-art research, contribute to Machine Learning groups, and apply new techniques for NLP, image processing, etc.Participate in team ceremonies (follow the agile cadence, technical whiteboarding sessions, product road mapping, etc)Report and present technical findings to technical and non-technical audiencesQualificationsSkills and experienceSignificant experience (3+ years) working as a Data Scientist, with a track record of delivering models to solve industry-scale problemExperience working with search or recommendation modelsExperience with experiment design and conducting A/B testsProficiency in Python, with the ability to write production-grade code and a good understanding of data engineering & MLOpsSolid understanding of machine learning concepts, familiarity working with common frameworks such as sci-kit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorchCollaborative and humble team player with an ability to work with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholdersPassion for learning new skills and staying up-to-date with ML algorithmsBonus pointsExperience with Databricks and PySparkExperience with deep learning & large language modelsExperience with traditional, semantic, and hybrid search frameworks (e.g. Elasticsearch)Experience working with AWS or another cloud platform (GCP/Azure)Additional informationUK Benefits Health + Mental Wellbeing - Cash-plan or PMI - you have the choice of a healthcare plan that best suits you - Subsidised counselling and coaching - we partner with Selfspace to provide you with the opportunity for a good conversation with a qualified person - Cycle to Work scheme - choose between Evans or the Green Commute Initiative to help access a bike for your commute - Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) - have access to a confidential support network of expert advice 24/7 - Mental Health First Aiders - we have trained individuals across the business to offer support and signposting Work/Life Balance - 25 days annual leave with the option to carry over up to 5 days - 1 company-wide day off per quarter, for you to take some time for yourself and decompress - Impact hours: At Depop, we offer all full-time employees up to the equivalent of 2 days additional paid leave per year to volunteer.
