Every member of the team has valued input and can help make us the best engineering team possible.GEEIQ engineering is on a mission to transform raw data into digestible and actionable strategies, helping brands become intrinsic parts of virtual environments, seamlessly integrating and engaging with diverse virtual audiencesYour FocusAs a Senior Data Engineer at GEEIQ, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines, ensuring an efficient and reliable flow of data across our systems. This position demands a thorough understanding of data architecture, data modelling, and the creation of APIs for data access and manipulation.We are looking for a seasoned and passionate Senior Data Engineer who thrives in a scaling organisation and is adept at managing large-scale data projects. The ideal candidate will blend deep technical expertise with leadership and communication skills to drive projects and team success.Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development
Design and implement efficient, scalable, and reliable data pipelines.
Optimise data processing and automate routine tasks to improve data throughput and quality.
Data Modeling and Database Management
Develop and maintain data models to ensure data is accessible and stored efficiently.
Manage and optimise SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
Implement and maintain data lakes and storage.
API Development and Integration
Build APIs for data access and manipulation to be used by web and mobile applications.
Integrate with external data sources and APIs to enhance our data capabilities.
Data Quality and Governance
Implement systems to monitor and ensure the quality and accuracy of data.
Work closely with the data governance team to implement policies and best practices.
Collaboration and Project Leadership
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and meet data requirements.
Lead data-related projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
Innovation and Strategy
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data engineering.
Contribute to the strategic planning of data initiatives and improvements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Education - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
5 + years of proven experience in a Engineering role, with a focus on data
Extensive experience in data engineering, including experience with big data technologies.
Strong expertise in programming languages such as NodeJS or Python.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with database technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
Expertise in data pipeline and workflow management tools.
Experience with cloud services like AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
Knowledge of data streaming technologies like Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Passion - Individuals who are passionate about the virtual world and have a genuine interest in working for a high-growth company in an exciting industry.
Industry - Previous experience in marketing technology products, a startup or a SaaS company would be a huge benefit.
