Senior Data and Digital Project Engineer
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000
Location: Thame, Oxfordshire
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working - 3 days remote, 2 days in office
Summary:
As a Senior Data and Digital Project Engineer in the Platforms & Infrastructure team (P&I), you will be responsible for helping to deliver our end-to-end enterprise IT strategy and vision. Your primary role involves contributing to planning, design, implementation, and transition of technology projects into ongoing operations and support, ensuring they meet performance targets and stay within budgets and timelines.
You will collaborate with internal resources and third-party suppliers across architecture, engineering, delivery, and projects to deliver key technical resources in projects and change initiatives across P&I, covering Infrastructure, Data, and Digital Operational environments in both cloud and on-premise setups.
What you'll be doing:
Contribute to the Platforms & Infrastructure team strategy aligned with wider IT and business strategies through successful project delivery.
Work with project managers, architects, engineers, and suppliers to plan, design, and deliver robust project plans within budget and on time.
Manage cloud infrastructure environments like Azure, AWS, Google, and private Data Centre partners.
Own and deliver project activities ensuring required levels of availability, performance, and security.
Ensure all services are managed according to best practices and meet availability and performance KPIs.
Recommend service improvements and work closely with IT Operations and Delivery teams for coordinated project delivery.
Take ownership of project deadlines and assist support teams when required.
What we'll expect from you:
Highly motivated self-starter with good organizational and teamwork skills.
Experience in IT infrastructures, data services, and digital platforms in on-premise and cloud environments.
Certified in cloud platforms or have a minimum of 5 years technical experience in cloud subscription environments.
Experience in Windows servers, Linux server management, digital projects, data environments, and infrastructure.
Understanding of enterprise network architectures, LAN, WAN, VPN, Routing, Switching, and firewalling.
Digital knowledge in technologies like Akamai WAF, GitHub, Apache, Bash, Nginx, PHP.
Data experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, PowerBI, Purview, Azure Blueprints, ARM templates.
Ability to handle multiple projects across digital, data, and infrastructure domains.
Passion for assisting team members in growing their technical skill set and resolving issues quickly.
Strong interpersonal skills, energy, drive, resilience, and flexibility to excel in a dynamic environment.
Self-motivated to improve stability, security, and customer satisfaction.
Willingness to work beyond standard hours to minimize IT impact on business operations.
Active participation in team events inside and outside of work hours.
