Senior Customer Accounts Specialist
Full Time, Permanent
Salary From £29,245 dependent on experience, Company Car Scheme and 27 days Holiday

The purpose of this role is to provide technical knowledge and subject matter expertise for Customer Accounts to ensure all tasks are carried out accurately, compliantly and on time for VWFS (UK) Ltd, VW Bank Branch and MFS (UK) Ltd 3rd party suppliers.
This key role will also be responsible for investigating/resolving Net Debt and Unmatched Cash (UC) activity for all customer portfolios, within the agreed timescales.
The role holder will define reporting capability to maximize query resolution, and expert in knowing and anticipating what/why transactions exist on Rent a Car and customer accounts and identify exceptions in processing (be it system/process/user error).
About the role:
Investigate and resolve both Net Debt and Unmatched Cash transactions within agreed targets, adhering to Treating Customers Fairly measures around the aging of cash received.
Review refund of customer transactions within refund rules and authorise in database to enable processing of refund to the customer.
Review and authorise HSBCnet for payments; ensuring all payments have been authorised in adherence with the business authorisation matrix and policies.
Be the subject matter expert and technical specialist support the team with key system requirements and problem solving relating to all aspects of the Customer Accounts processes.
Provide and support training to the team, transfer knowledge and enhance skill sets to improve performance.
Reconciliation of all Accounts Receivable related balance sheet, general ledger, and intercompany accounts making sure accurate balances are reported and ensure documented actions are in place to investigate and resolve aged open items and completed in line with the monthly timetable.
Ensure balance sheet and customer account integrity in order to support the Customer Accounts Manager in liaising with internal and external auditors, demonstrating a robust control mechanism exists for customer accounts.
Work collaboratively with the Customer Accounts Manager to develop and report on meaningful key performance indicators and management information, providing detailed analysis to the senior leadership team within Finance Operations.
Identify opportunities for system and process change, understand the impacts of changes, and apply decision-making techniques to prioritise effectively.
Understand the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on the main SAP accounting systems to ensure system integrity, particularly in relation to payments and balance sheet accounts.
Robust stakeholder management to include regular liaison and communication across all business areas to optimise cross-functional relationships. and understand all aspects as to why transactions can occur on customer accounts, ensuring the resolution of exceptions within the agreed timescales.
Assist with any operational projects as required collaborating with colleagues in IT and across the business to ensure clarity of requirements/issues for all change relating to Customer Accounts Processes.
About you:
Demonstrable experience in reliable all-round accounting / bookkeeping technical knowledge.
Excellent knowledge of Excel and Office applications
Experienced knowledge of SAP FI, including Sales ledger, Purchase Ledger, Banking modules and General Ledger management.
A competent understanding of commercial, regulatory and compliance legislation.
Portfolio/large data analysis experience essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with both Finance and non-Finance staff at all levels.
Strong data analytical and accuracy skills with the ability to identify, understand and explain financial data.
Ability to clearly define and investigate business process issues.
Good self-organisation with a proven methodical and disciplined approach to work
Highly motivated, able to work flexibly under pressure, apply own initiative without supervision in order to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to react effectively to resolve problems.
Experience of managing relationships and the ability to work collaboratively to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Self-motivated and a strong team player
Up to date awareness of regulatory and compliance legislation as it impacts on the role.
Creative thinker with the ability to produce original ideas to automate processes and deliver operational excellence.
