Hybrid - Home and London Hub

Are you an expert creative content writer looking for fabulous readers to instantly engage with? Here at Saga, you will have the chance to cover an array of colourful content matter for our online magazine and newsletters. Our team of Content Editors plan, write and maintain our newly launched Magazine website, which is an essential part of Saga's brand 'shop window'.
You'll need to have a deep understanding of our readers and a desire to create articles which are designed to cater especially for their wants, needs and aspirations. We need the highest standards of journalistic integrity, creative flair, and also an eye for commercial opportunities as we broaden our approach to include partnership opportunities with the rest of the Saga businesses (insurance, cruise, travel and money) as well as third parties.
Although a small team, we have big aspirations for the site, with a goal of exceeding over a million monthly site visits by the end of this year.
*Candidates applying will need to be in a commutable distance to London. Our hub in London is based at Kings Cross, you may need to visit the Hub 1 to 4 times a month.
Role Responsibility
Joining us as our Senior Content Editor, you will be key to creating high quality digital content for our newsletters and website which inspires, informs and ultimately delights our readers.
In this role you will report to our renowned Magazine Editorial Director with a possibility of the role becoming permanent in the future. The main responsibilities will be;
Editing the Saga Magazine website - updating the home page, creating new articles, auditing and repurposing of published digital content.
Continuing the migration of Exceptional.com and the former Saga Magazine content onto the new Saga Magazine website.
Writing accurate, balanced, SEO researched and authoritative content for the Saga Magazine website.
Use of CMS/Sitecore to publish articles to the website.
Constant liaison with dev team to improve the user experience of the website, correct any issues and ensure it is fully optimised.
Input into the future development of the website.
Consistently researching and developing new articles for Saga Magazine's online audience.
Daily monitoring of SEO analytics for website and newsletter - reporting back to EIC.
Holding and participating in content meetings with print, newsletter, social media and wider Saga group.
The use of AirTable workflow platform - for all content and approvals.
Maintaining the content calendar for the website.
Commissioning freelancers and expert writers to create timely and evergreen content.
Attending press and wider events as appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
You will already be a credible content expert who is able to understand our audiences needs and interests here at Saga. You will need to demonstrate the following skills;
Have a deep understanding and ability to write content which engages our target customer base of UK over 50s
A flexible editorial approach which creates content which spans a variety of subject areas
Consistent high standards of accuracy - factual + style, tone and positioning
Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders effectively
3+ years in a writing or (ideally) journalistic / editing role
Experience of managing multiple stakeholders across editorial, marketing and commercial teams
Demonstrable passion and for our audience
Competent CMS user
Available for a 6 month FTC or longer
