Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading planning and development consultancy in London with the hire of a Senior Consultant to join the Environmental Planning team.

This role will allow you to work in a collaborative, dynamic environment alongside leaders in their fields with a fantastic range of clients on a wide variety of highly prestigious and diverse range of projects!

There will be a varied range of environmental planning and EIA opportunities, from providing strategic advice, masterplanning support, critical friend roles, ES review and EIA delivery. Additionally, a focus on opportunities for business development, digital transformation, sustainability and net zero.

What will I be doing?

  • Manage EIA stages, including screening, scoping reports and EIA; with limited support from senior colleagues.
  • Report writing including drafting and technical review of reports and ES chapters.
  • Manage and build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Leading on some project client meetings.
  • Managing project delivery programme, budgets and invoicing.
  • Playing a key role in the preparation of tenders and fee proposals.
  • Support and contribute towards the business development and management strategies.
  • Coach and support junior colleagues.
  • Develop industry reputation and represent Quod at industry events and professional bodies such as IEMA

What do I need to hold/demonstrate to apply

  • Appropriate degree and/or higher qualification in relevant subject.
  • Membership of IEMA preferred.
  • Sound understanding of environmental legislation, relevant policy and guidance.
  • Good knowledge of all stages of EIA process, procedures and best practice.
  • Previous relevant industry experience across a range of projects.
  • Commercial awareness and good project and financial management skills and able to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in engagement with planning authorities and stakeholders.
  • Positive, professional attitude and proactive approach with a focus on finding solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects.
  • Independently problem solves.
  • Enjoys responsibility working under own initiative and integrating/collaborating with other teams.
