Aldgate Advisors Limited is Newgate’s sister company. Newgate Compliance Limited is a regulatory consultancy working with a broad range of investment management clients including hedge funds, fund of funds, long only managers, private equity, venture capital, institutional brokerage and investment advisers. We also support a number of broking and corporate finance firms.This role will be reporting directly to the Head of Regulated Services and will be a an experienced support to the regulatory hosting service line. You should have a keen interest in regulation and compliance. Five to seven year’s relevant experience is desired however you will also learn from the wider team, many of whom are experienced ex-regulators. We are a fast moving, growing compliance consultancy firm and the willingness to be flexible as tasks arise will be key for the successful candidate.Purpose of the Role Your role will be wide and varied and you will be expected to be willing to undertake the many tasks that arise when part of a flexible consulting team. The role will be challenging but conversely you will have the opportunity get to see the asset management, corporate finance and broking industries from a unique perspective. A key part of your responsibilities will be in supporting the client advisory team assisting with regulatory work and client meetings.Main Responsibilities Reporting into the Head of Regulated Services;Managing client relationships and incoming queries from the Appointed Representatives;Carrying out due diligence on Appointed Representatives and their Approved Persons;Undertaking ongoing monitoring and visits of Appointed Representatives;Assisting with reporting to the Board on the Appointed Representatives activities and the risk scorings;Undertaking financial promotion reviews in line with the rules in FCA Handbook COSB 4 and the Consumer Duty;Assisting with FCA approval applications, AR returns and other regulatory transactions;Undertaking compliance monitoring tasks such as:Review and scrutinise returns submitted by Appointed RepresentativesChecking the completed tasks, affirmations and registers for each ARReview accuracy of financial reporting submitted by the ARsApproving PA deal requests, assigning annual training and issuing overdue task reminders to ARsArrange and undertake compliance monitoring visitsUndertake annual AR reviewUndertake regulatory tasks such as AR risk assessments, annual compliance manual refresh and annual self-assessment;Taking part in client visits, meetings and training sessions;Managing and overseeing the work undertaken by the junior team members; andKeeping up to date with current regulatory developments and informing clients as necessary.Friendly, enthusiastic and willing to learn;Ability to work on projects alone or with the team;Clear and articulate communicator with the ability to adapt to different environments and personalities;Capable of challenging Appointed Representatives on their business models and any associated risks;Able to demonstrate judgement and to scrutinise the accuracy of information and financial reporting submitted by the ARs;Curious and detail oriented with regards to monitoring;Capable of working on-site at client offices using their own initiative; andAble to communicate with all levels of seniority within the client’s business.#LI-AM1#LI-HybridQualifications RequiredKnowledge, Skills & ExperienceThe successful candidate is likely to have a degreeand/or be a compliance practitioner with five to seven years’ relevant experienceand/or have good understanding of the wholesale financial services sector.Good IT skills with the ability to learn the in-house compliance system.Additional InformationAll staff are expected to embody our core values that underpin everything that we do and that reflect the skills and behaviours we all need to be successful.
