Our high performing in-house Commercial Team supports the firm with the prompt delivery of pragmatic, accurate and commercial legal advice. The team is now looking for a Senior Lawyer to join them in supporting the growth of our business in line with our purpose and values.Key responsibilities and deliverablesWorking alongside other members of the Commercial Team, you will be responsible for providing pragmatic, accurate and commercial legal advice to both lawyers and non-lawyers across all the firm’s offices. In particular you will:work alongside other members of the Commercial Team and Legal Department to provide support and guidance on Departmental and firm-wide projects;assist the firm’s practice groups by reviewing, advising on and negotiating contractual terms with our clients;support the firm by advising on a broad range of procurement projects with our suppliers;assist in the development and delivery of training to lawyers and non-lawyers across the firm;assist in the development of internal guidance on commercial legal issues and risk mitigation;contribute to the on-going learning and development of the Commercial Team;align with best practice standards set by the Commercial Team and the Legal Department more broadly;support the risk mitigation strategies of the firm;develop positive working relationships with individuals at all levels across the firm.You will have the ability to work autonomously and innovatively, think creatively and communicate clearly and succinctly.Key requirementsQualified lawyer with relevant post qualification experienceExperience of advising on commercial contracts (such as master services agreements, joint ventures, co-operation agreements, consultancy agreements), and/or tech contracts (such as cloud computing, Agile software development) and/or procurement contracts (such as outsource/managed services, facilities management).Experience of working in-house at a law firm or other professional services firm.Excellent English communication skillsCompetenciesYou must have:a high degree of professionalism and an ability to quickly establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels.excellent attention to detail.We are looking for a strong team player:who keeps calm and copes well with a fast paced work environment;who has an ability to provide a view, take responsibility and ownership of issues;with excellent negotiation skills;with a love of the law who is a skilled and insightful drafter.with excellent organisation skills and willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to deliver a consistent first-class service to internal clients.You need to be resilient, maintain humour and sense of proportion.InclusionFreshfields is an equal opportunities employer and all applications received by the firm will be considered by the firm on the basis of their merit alone and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of background.
