The Role
As a chemist, you will be responsible for:
Acquiring financing for new R&D ventures by composing proposals for grant-funded projects.
Utilizing existing skills and knowledge to enable the development of novel technology, specifically in CO 2
absorption.
Organizing, acquiring, and overseeing the chemical laboratory to meet regulations and ensure safety and functionality of all equipment.
Protecting the organization's innovative property related to CO 2
absorption technology through proactive contribution.
Skills and Experience Needed:
Background in the field of adsorbent and adsorption chemistry, especially in the capture of CO 2
or H 2 S (essential).
Expertise in the creation and characterisation of organic and inorganic substances including solid adsorbents and polymers, and hands-on experience in IR spectroscopy, UV spectroscopy, SEM and TEM particle analysis (essential).
An understanding of laboratory setup and regulations, including Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, and experience in acquiring equipment for the lab (essential).
Holds a PhD and has a minimum of 4 years' post-doctorate experience in heading independent research and demonstrating proficiency in developing and executing research projects to address important scientific questions (essential).
Previous research and development experience in areas such as separations technology, polymer science, carbon capture, catalysts, characterization of materials, adsorption, surface chemistry, design of absorbents (essential).
Practical understanding of the chemical composition and properties of concrete and cement (desirable).
Successful record of proposal and patent writing, as well as the development of bids and grant proposals (desirable).
In-depth knowledge of carbon capture utilization and storage (desirable).
Past experience as a Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator on academic research projects, or equivalent experience in an industrial setting (desirable).
A leading researcher in formulation, materials, and surface chemistry with a minimum of 10 years’ experience (desirable).
Specialized knowledge in the mineralization of CO 2
for various applications (desirable).
Expertise in computational chemistry and the ability simulate and analyse synthetic materials (desirable).
