Job Type:PermanentBuild a brilliant future with Hiscox Senior Catastrophe Information AnalystLondon based with Hybrid working - In the office minimum of 2 days per week The Group Exposure team are responsible for the provision of modelling and scenario analysis against our internal and external limits. Its our job to provide high-quality data for use in all our internal reporting and to complete our regulatory obligations with the right level of challenge and validation. The catastrophe information that is generated is used to inform Group strategy, is reported across the organisation and externally to the markets, investors and regulators.Our remit covers the full range of exposure across our property, terror, marine and aviation classes. We need to ensure we’re meeting all our regulatory requirements for Lloyd’s, the PRA and the BMA. The regulatory metrics are a core part of our overall appetite framework and we need to be able to interrogate our position against those metrics throughout the year and into business planning.We are in the processes of major IT change project that will equip us with a market leading reporting platform and tool kit. We need to be able to quickly generate a range of metrics that combine multiple large datasets and drive critical business decisions. It’s imperative that the data is complete and accurate and movements are clearly explained. A key requirement of this role is to help minimise the time spent processing data and maximise the time spent analysing the data. If you have a love of analytics, combined with a top-notch technical aptitude but also with the energy and personality to use these skills to influence others then this role could be for you!About the TeamThe Group Exposure Managements part of the wider Underwriting Risk and Reinsurance function led by the Director of Underwriting Risk & Reinsurance, reporting to the Group CUO. We sit centrally to the business units, working closely with our colleagues in the insurance and reinsurance exposure and modelling teams. The teams goals are:Define the risk appetite framework for cat perilsMonitor against internal and external limitsProvide cat bet analytics (bang for buck)Meet regulatory and rating agency reporting requirementsSet and oversee exposure management standards for the groupSupport capital modelling and RI analytics What you’ll be doing in the roleResponsible for generating & owning internal and external Group reports, including quarterly group rollup, Lloyd’s and BMA reporting, profitability metrics. Including supporting sign-off with CUOs.Analysing movements in the data and providing clear commentary and playing back to the business.Ensuring the integrity of the data that feeds our systems, providing a feedback loop to the data providersProviding high quality analytics for use at the most senior levels of Hiscox Group.Building relationships strong relationships with our data providers and customers in the Hiscox business units and senior management, so that we best understand the risks that they are most concerned about and they understand which risks most impact the overall Group.Using PowerBI to interrogate data and produce new reports to meet our internal and external requirementsWorking alongside our cat development team to identify and implement process improvements. Being able to respond quickly to changes in strategy that necessitate alternative views of the dataPerson specification3+ years’ experience within exposure management, catastrophe modelling, MI or reinsuranceExperience of Lloyd’s Exposure Management activities or Insurance MI processesHighly numerate with the ability to manage multiple large datasetsKnowledge of, or interest in PowerBI or similar BI toolsSelf-starter – you’ll have the ability and energy to learn under multiple learning styles then take that knowledge and creatively apply it to solve issues.Attention to detail – tenacity to focus on the detail when it’s required.Ability to work under pressure – we need to be able to produce metrics to tight deadlines and be able to adjust those metrics quicklyInquisitive, analytical mind-set – a passion for pulling things apart and understanding both how they work and how they get used.About HiscoxAs an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products.
