Job Description
As the Senior Business Development Manager you'll be supporting SVP Strategy & Business Development to identify and advise on the best opportunities for De Beers to increase shareholder value through merger and acquisition (inorganic growth) related activities (including partnering).
Key Focus:
Build and maintain a sound knowledge of the mining industry including potential target growth assets and companies.
Establish and build effective and appropriate relationships and information flow with relevant internal and external individuals and groups.
Identify, evaluate, and recommend (as appropriate) business development opportunities - including the most appropriate form for these (e.g. acquisition of controlling interest, joint venture) and including opportunities in mining, midstream and downstream areas of operation.
Develop business cases and prepare deals for prospective merger, acquisition, partnering, and divestment opportunities including:
- day to day management and coordination of multi-disciplinary due diligence teams (internal and external providers)
- assistance with development of deal structuring
Development of implementation plans including integration planning and management for merger and acquisition opportunities
Contribute as a proactive member of the team on special projects, due diligence activity, and strategy workshops, to leverage skills and experience across the spectrum of business opportunities.
Develop, monitor, and manage the budget for your area.
Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and highlight to SVP Strategy & Business Development
Identify gaps in policy & system design, implementation or execution and initiate remedies for alternative solutions.

Set the health, safety and environmental expectations for the team and monitor behaviour to ensure compliance.
Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field e.g. Commercial, Strategy, Planning, Business Development
Experience in a managerial business development role driving organic and inorganic growth activities within a large organisation, ideally in the mining and/or extractive industries.
Project management experience
Proven track record of driving results and delivering impactful insights in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical thinker- capacity to dissect financial and regulatory requirements and understand their implications on operations.
Problem solver - capability to troubleshoot operational challenges and implement process improvements.
Adaptability and learning agility - willingness to embrace change and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements and industry trends.
Strong business acumen and commercial thinking with ability to support the synthesis of market and competitive position, operational and financial characteristics, and stakeholder objectives into a compelling business proposition.
Transaction management and post-acquisition business integration
Financial analysis, valuation models, market analysis
Presentation skills to deliver engaging and persuasive presentations to clients, investors, and other stakeholders.
Effective networking skills to cultivate relationships with industry peers and other stakeholders.
