Northreach is working with a stealth genomics organisation seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Specialist to join their newly created Genomics team. Located in the City of Cambridge, the business is driven by a mission to harness the power of genomics to enhance health outcomes, propel scientific discovery, and pave the way for personalized medicine.



The Role:



We are on the hunt for a seasoned Senior Bioinformatics Specialist to bolster our dynamic team. This role is tailor-made for someone who thrives on analyzing complex genomic data and crafting cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and algorithms. By collaborating with our cross-functional teams, you'll play a pivotal role in steering genomic projects from conception to completion, all while pushing the boundaries of research and development within the field.



What You'll Do:




  • Forge and refine bioinformatics tools and pipelines to decode genomic data.

  • Partner with our research and clinical squads to spearhead genomic studies.

  • Analyze a spectrum of NGS data, including but not limited to whole-genome and whole-exome sequencing.

  • Innovate and develop machine learning models to unravel the mysteries of genomic data.

  • Uphold the highest standards of data analysis quality and documentation.

  • Keep pace with the ever-evolving landscape of genomics and bioinformatics, assessing new tech for integration.

  • Mentor and guide our budding bioinformatics talent, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.

  • Share your discoveries and insights through presentations at both internal gatherings and global conferences.



What You'll Bring:




  • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a closely related field.

  • At least 5 years of bioinformatics experience, ideally within a genomics research or clinical context.

  • Mastery of bioinformatics tools, databases, and NGS data analysis.

  • Proficiency in Python, R, and UNIX/Linux shell scripting.

  • A track record of applying machine learning in genomic studies.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a dedication to excellence.

  • Stellar communication abilities and a penchant for teamwork.
