Carrington West are pleased to present an exciting role for experience professionals within the power sector. Working alongside our client, a well-established main contractor, we are recruiting for experienced Senior Authorised Persons to work as part of their substation build team working UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network. Your role will be to plan and undertake system outages as per an agreed switching schedule and put people to work safely on the system
Role responsibilities:

• Provide on site technical support for the project teams
• Demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the client Distribution Safety Rules
• Develop and implement safety documentation including liaison with outage planning
• Preparation of switching schedules via the PowerOn software application.
• Isolate and Earth High Voltage apparatus and put people to work via a Permit to Work
• Issue Sanction for Test and undertake required testing
• Issue Limitation of Access documents where required
• Monitor the progress of sites under his operational charge to ensure full compliance with the current UKPN Distribution Safety Rules
• Attend client progress meetings, pre-start meetings and client audits.
• Identify and resolve any operational issues raised on site
• Provide technical and operational support for projects at a concept stage to ensure robust, cost effective build solutions
• Support and mentor other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge
• Ensure full compliance on projects within company procedures and current legislation
• Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the contract

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

• Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Candidates with other recognised qualifications will be considered if they can demonstrate they have worked in a similar environment
• A proven track record of working on and around the High Voltage distribution network 
• Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure and legislation in addition to sound decision making skills.
• Be able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success
• Comfortable to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
• Competent 11kV, 33kV or 132kV SAP on an established DNO Distribution Network
• Good understanding of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environment
• Ability to work within budget and within programmed timescales
• Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers and project staff
• Full UK Diving licence
