About the role
BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Air Quality Consultant to join our Nottingham office.
This role represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to our growing air quality team within our Nottingham office.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with a desire to develop their professional career with BWB.
Sitting within our Air Quality team, the successful applicant would be expected to undertake specialist technical work such as air and odour dispersion modelling, air quality, odour and dust monitoring and report writing, all whilst working as part of a growing, integrated, progressive team.
We work on a variety of fantastic projects and the successful candidate would have the opportunity to work on projects from proposal stage right through to completion.
Our projects vary in size from small scale through to national infrastructure projects.
There is also the opportunity to undertake project management, manage project finances, and undertake mentoring and training with more junior team members.
The successful applicant will also be expected to undertake business development activities and provide a significant contribution to the direction and growth of our team.
Our work is varied and widespread supporting our clients on projects both locally and throughout the UK as required.
This is a fast paced, Client facing role in which you would have the opportunity to participate in a growing regional team. We value innovation and encourage thinking ‘outside of the box’, while always seeking to provide commercial solutions to complex environmental issues. Good financial and project management skills are a must as are great communication skills to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships both internally and external to BWB.
About the team
BWB is a leading Engineering and Environmental Consultancy with over 300 people based in five offices throughout the UK. We have an established reputation for delivering high quality environmental and engineering consultancy services to corporate, industrial, development and financial clients across a variety of sectors.
The Air Quality team are a rapidly expanding part of BWB’s environmental service offering, with involvement at all stages in the planning cycle from feasibility through to master planning, planning application support and the discharge of planning conditions. We also provide strategic advice and asset management services, and offer clever solutions to some challenging issues.
We are working on many different @types of projects, including new road and rail schemes, new residential settlements, urban regeneration schemes, supermarkets, leisure developments and industrial and commercial schemes.

About you
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, self-motivated and willing to take the initiative, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to travel and a full driving licence are essential to the role.
The successful candidate will have a relevant science based air quality or environmental sciences degree and be a Full member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences and Institute of Air Quality Management.
An appropriate Masters degree is also highly desirable.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate at least five years of experience in an air quality consultancy setting.
Candidates will be required to show a good understanding and experience in the following areas:
Staff mentoring and management;
Business development, client relationship management, project and financial management experience is essential;
Effective working with design teams, project managers and clients;
The air quality assessment process, as well as the standards and guidelines that are appropriate to our industry;
The UK planning and Environmental Permitting process;
Environmental Impact Assessment process, including writing ES air quality chapters;
Air dispersion modelling software and processes including the ADMS-Roads and ADMS 5 software packages, DMRB and experience in using ArcGIS, QGIS and AutoCAD;
Air quality assessment tools and processes including the Emission Factor Toolkit, background maps, NOx to NO2 calculator, NO2 fall off with distance calculator, annualization process and the model verification process;
Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills;
Air quality monitoring and the design and management of air quality monitoring strategies;
Odour monitoring, including sniff testing – an odour acuity certification within the established range for surveying is highly desirable;
Willingness to travel and a full driving licence are essential to the role, with your own vehicle or access to a vehicle for business use highly desirable; and
Experience of greenhouse gas emissions assessments, climate change assessments and indoor air quality assessments are highly desirable.
