Advanced Respiratory Specialist Nurse - Band 7 - Wandsworth
South West Division - Wandsworth Specialist Nursing
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical nurse specialist to join our community team. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and compassionate registered nurse with the skills and knowledge to fulfil this role.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of expertise clinically, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly with consideration to the needs of the service.
The post holder will spend at least 80% of the time providing patient facing or related care.
To work within a multidisciplinary respiratory team to deliver community respiratory service in South West division- Wandsworth providing specialist services including hospital at home (admission avoidance and early supported discharge scheme), home oxygen assessment & review service, nurse led clinics, stable disease management and home visits to provide expert specialist care to patients with COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, OSA and ILD.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
Providing a specialist respiratory nursing service for patients and their families/ carers with specialist care needs
Offering support, advice and education to the primary health care teams, hospice, and hospital staff
Participating in quality initiatives for service improvement.
Championing respiratory services across CLCH and the South West Division.
What skills do you need to join our team? • Use specialist respiratory knowledge and skills to safely identify patients with an acute respiratory exacerbation that are suitable for admission avoidance and self-management care plans using the NICE guidance for safe care planning and home management. • Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients with suspected respiratory disease, including history taking, physical examination, spirometry, formulating individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning. • Undertake comprehensive assessments of complex respiratory patients with co-morbidities, including physical examination, and to develop treatment plans for patients using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning. • To work with the team in developing and implementing specialist care programmes, including home oxygen therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, psychological interventions and medication reviews, adhering to evidence based guidelines.

Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
RN Level 1 registration with the NMC
Post registration respiratory qualification or equivalent experience
Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent experience
Possession of a degree or equivalent
Desirable criteria
Advanced Communication Skills Course
Advanced Physical Assessment Course
Non - Medical Prescribing Course
Teaching and Assessment qualification
Master's level study in related subject (or willingness to work towards)
