Smile Education Northwest are delighted to be working alongside a friendly and dynamic secondary school based in Wigan, to support in the recruitment of a number of SEND Teaching Assistants.
We are thrilled to be supporting in the recruitment of SEND Teaching Assistant’s to join this busy school from April 2024. The successful applicants will be supporting pupils within a mainstream secondary school setting. Pupils’ needs are based within behavioural needs and as such applicants must be confident in their approach to behaviour management. Successful applicants will be supporting pupils on a mostly 1:1 basis, however, will also be supporting small groups of key pupils where required using pre-planned lesson materials from Class Teachers, or supporting within the classroom.
This is a diverse role and adaptable role, giving applicants an engaging and fluid schedule. This school is based in the Wigan area of Manchester. Within proximity to Ashton-in-makerfield, Hindley and Bickershaw. The expected salary range for this role is between £80-100 per day, depending on experience.
What to expect from applicants?
We would like applicants to have experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary or secondary setting. Applicants must be confident in their behaviour management skills and be comfortable in working on a 1:1 basis with key pupils. A good level of differentiation skill is needed to help breakdown lesson content into manageable chunks for pupils, allowing them to access the curriculum at their own level.

To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:
-        A Teaching Assistant qualification, such as a Level 3 in supporting teaching and learning.
-        Prior experience in supporting pupils either at a primary age range or secondary age range
-        Good differentiation skills to break down lesson materials allowing pupils to access curriculum at their own level
-        Strong behaviour management skills
