About the Role:

Join a friendly team of dedicated and caring Specialist SEND Teaching Assistants in a small group of schools in Eastbourne, East Sussex. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities. As a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students, ensuring they receive the assistance and encouragement they need to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer personalised support to students with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning challenges.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored support strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and professionals to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with students, nurturing their emotional well-being and self-esteem.
  • Assist students during lessons, facilitating their engagement with the curriculum and addressing any obstacles to learning.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and mobility, as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Possession of relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • A patient and empathetic demeanour, coupled with a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of SEN students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in a dynamic educational setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
