Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a SEND EHCP Coordinator on a permanent basis.
Purpose of the role:
To be responsible for a caseload of children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This Includes overseeing the child’s journey from the commencement of statutory assessment to placement, ensuring all statutory processes are met, until finalisation of their EHCP using key working principles with the family.
To act as the named officer for a group of schools but to also be flexible and work as part of a team, providing services and support to parents/carers and colleagues. Foster and maintain close and effective working relationships with all partner agencies.
To ensure effective communication with parents and external agencies, in respect of policies, services and processes, which relate to SEND issues, offering an accessible and welcoming
Main responsibilities:
To take lead responsibility/be a single point of contact for a portfolio of children and young people with SEND, once statutory assessment has commenced, in terms of support for the child and family, liaison with parents, schools, professionals and other Local Authorities as appropriate.
To use key working principles in helping parents, carers, young people and professionals navigate the EHCP assessment and plan process. Including meeting with families at the start of the process, regular liaison by email and telephone and acting as the coordinator/key point of contact for all meetings concerning the assessment and placement process, keeping parents/carers/young people informed of the process and progress within it.
Provide a range of advice to parents/carers/young people, allocated schools and other external professionals and colleagues regarding the statutory process.
To attend, where applicable, multi-professional meetings (such as Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings) concerning children and young people within the portfolio of cases and to Chair these meetings as required
To populate sections of the EHCP, as reports become available, in terms of general information, information about the child and family and the child’s assessed needs and attend co-production meetings with the EHCP writer to support the family and take notes as required.
Requirements:
Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, 0-25 SEND Code of Practice)
Knowledge of applying the principles of equal opportunities in the implementation of practice, in order to address equality and diversity issues.
Experience of establishing effective working relationships with parents/young people and other professionals such as the use of key working principles
Ability to Chair professional/parent meetings.
