Requirements

The desired PMLD Teaching Assistant will have;


  • Previous experience working specifically with individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) within a school or care setting is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of various PMLD conditions, including sensory and communication needs, and the ability to implement appropriate support strategies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication methods to meet the diverse needs of PMLD students.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy, with a genuine passion for supporting and advocating for students with complex needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively with students across different age groups and abilities within the PMLD spectrum.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, with additional training or certifications related to PMLD being highly desirable.
