SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with individual students or small groups, providing tailored support to meet their specific needs.
  • Implement strategies outlined in individual education plans (IEPs) to support students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt lesson plans and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Provide dedicated support to students with special needs during class time.
  • Foster a nurturing and encouraging relationship to enhance the student's learning experience.
  • Assist in the assessment of student's academic progress and social development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute insights to enhance the overall teaching and learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a SEN setting, is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient and empathetic attitude towards students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow instructions from teaching staff.
