Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

This Oldham Primary school is seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

Job Responsibilities:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support and assist students with special educational needs. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other professionals to create a positive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of each student.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.

Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.

Collaborating with the class teacher to adapt lesson materials and activities to meet the specific needs of students.

Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.

Promoting inclusion and supporting the social and emotional development of students with SEN.

Liaising with parents, guardians, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).

Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.

Knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with SEN.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
