SEMH Learning Support Mentor

The School and Role

This Secondary and Post-16 SEND school, based in Cramlington, Northumberland is looking to appoint a passionate SEMH Learning Support Mentor to work in Key Stage 3 and 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary and Post-16 SEND school as part of an established team, the desired SEMH Learning Support Mentor will be working on a small group sized basis with pupils with SEND including SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties as well as Attachment and Trauma. This full time SEMH Learning Support Mentor role is long term from April ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.

As a school they create an environment to support the students’ academic and holistic development as well as creating a space where pupils feel safe as individuals and feel valued by promoting the rights of the students and highlight their strengths and contributions.

Requirements

The desired SEMH Learning Support Mentor will have;

-          Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children

-          Experience of working with pupils with SEND

-          A passion for the progress of SEND secondary school pupils

-          An ability to work as part of a team

-          An ability to deal with fast paced situations and challenging behaviours.
