Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Scientific Officer to provide day-to-day care and welfare monitoring for mice housed in a medical experimental (transgenic) facility whilst working alongside research groups to support their work.
You will work within defined Standard Operating Procedures and apply and promote the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). You will ensure all aspects of day-to-day husbandry, care and welfare is in place at all times and contribute towards general cleaning and upkeep of the facility.
As a Personal Licensee under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, you will conduct non-regulated and regulated procedures within the authorities of the transgenic breeding Project Licence held by the establishment.  You will hold a minimum HNC in Animal Technology or equivalent have a thorough understanding of the Animals (Scientific procedures) Act 1986 and have previous experience in a similar role. You will be computer literate and competent in using Office 365 software and be able to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team - able to work weekends and Bank Holidays as part of the out-of-hours rota.
