Accelerate Teaching is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join a dynamic secondary school in Kirklees. This rewarding role is set to commence in September 2024, and we are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a passion for supporting scientific education and fostering a stimulating learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Preparation: Set up equipment and materials for practical science lessons, ensuring all apparatus is in good working order.
  • Support Teaching Staff: Assist science teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons by providing technical support and ensuring the smooth running of practical sessions.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and promoting good laboratory practices.
  • Resource Management: Manage and organise laboratory stock, ensuring that supplies are replenished and stored correctly.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Administrative Duties: Keep accurate records of inventory, safety checks, and equipment usage.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience: Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school setting is essential.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in science or laboratory work is highly desirable.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other colleagues.
