School Nurse

A fantastic opportunity is now available for a Registered Nurse (RN Adult or RN Child) to join an outstanding Newbury independent school as a School Nurse.

Initially offering a co-ed junior provision and girls’ senior and sixth form provisions, the school has successfully established an EYFS provision and expanded its education for boys, aiming to become fully co-educational for the ‘27-28 school year. The school endeavours to provide an exceptional, holistic education to all its pupils, recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate as “excellent”, “exemplary” and “an environment in which all pupils can flourish”. Surrounded by countryside parkland, the extensive school grounds include a beautiful historic manor, outdoor swimming pool and woodside lake, and the site is well-connected to central Newbury, Andover, and Basingstoke.

As a School Nurse, you will coordinate the school’s medical and pastoral resources for pupils, staff, and visitors. You can expect your role to involve providing nursing care and first aid to the school community, providing a safe space for mental and emotional wellbeing, and assisting with healthcare initiatives around the school.

This is a permanent, full-time position; you will be working core school hours (8.30 - 16.30) during school term-time and on occasional additional event days. You will have school holidays off and still be paid the full annual salary rather than a pro-rata amount.

Specific school nurse experience would be beneficial but is not required – if you have some experience in caring for children and are approachable, kind, and passionate about children’s health and welfare, this could be the perfect role for you.

Person specification:

• (Essential) NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult) or Registered Nurse (Children)
• (Essential) Previous paediatric nursing experience (school-aged children)
• (Desirable) Previous experience in nursing within a school setting
