We are seeking a Sales Engineer to join our Clients team, providing technical support and generating quotations and proposals for a diverse range of internal and external customers. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in evaluating enquiries to deliver technical and commercial solutions that drive business growth and help achieve strategic objectives.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Transpose customer technical requirements into solutions fit for purpose, supporting customers directly or via the Business Development Manager/Key Account Manager.
  • Categorise response time for enquiries based on technical complexity and current team workload.
  • Prepare customer quotations, including negotiation, costing, and margin analysis.
  • Liaise with customers to evaluate enquiries and provide suitable solutions, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • Follow up on high-value quotations to convert them into orders, maintaining details on the CRM system.
  • Provide product cost information to internal and external customers to maintain profit margins.
  • Offer technical support and pricing guidance to the Customer Service team.
  • Support customers and external sales personnel to ensure customer expectations are met, which may include overseas travel.
  • Use Excel-based programs for product cost calculations using estimates and verified manufacturing costs.
  • Assist in identifying potential new product opportunities and stay updated with changes in relevant legislation, standards, or directives.
  • Learn and support new product features and benefits for customers.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • HNC in Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Significant Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering background.
  • Extensive knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient estimating skills and high level of commercial awareness.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to review technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and machining methods.
  • Experience in sales techniques and commercial awareness.
  • Effective negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, ability to work under pressure, and strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience with valve-related products.
  • Experience using a CRM system.
