About the Roles
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting a wide variety of projects related to nuclear safety cases. This will involve:
Safety Expertise (Safety Case Manager): Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety cases that demonstrate the safe operation of nuclear facilities. This includes:
Performing safety analyses using techniques like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Event Tree Analysis (ETA).
Identifying and evaluating potential safety hazards, including radiation hazards, criticality hazards, and contamination hazards.
Justifying the adequacy of safety controls and mitigation strategies.
Ensuring compliance with relevant nuclear safety regulations and standards.
Safety Case Processes (Safety Case Advisor): Contributing to the effective implementation of safety cases in operational facilities. You'll assist Safety Case Managers with tasks such as:
Gathering and analyzing safety-related data.
Preparing safety documentation, including hazard assessments and risk analyses.
Liaising with technical experts and operational staff.
The Ideal Candidate (Safety Case Manager)
Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in safety case development and management within the nuclear industry.
Solid understanding of nuclear safety principles, including reactor physics, radiation protection, and criticality safety.
Experience in performing safety analyses using FMEA, ETA, and other relevant techniques.
In-depth knowledge of relevant nuclear safety regulations and standards (e.g., IAEA Safety Guides).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineers, scientists, and regulators.
Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
The Ideal Candidate (Safety Case Advisor)
Strong understanding of safety case principles, with a focus on the nuclear industry (training provided for qualified candidates).
Experience working in a technical or safety-focused role within a regulated industry (e.g., oil & gas, chemical) is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
