Safeguarding Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Within a school- Oldham (OL8)

Our school is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we are seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Assistant to support our efforts in ensuring the safety and well-being of our school community.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.

Act as a point of contact for students, staff, and external agencies regarding safeguarding concerns, providing support and guidance as needed.

Maintain accurate records of safeguarding incidents, interventions, and referrals, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Collaborate with the designated safeguarding lead and other relevant staff members to assess and respond to safeguarding risks and concerns.

Support the delivery of safeguarding training and awareness-raising initiatives for staff, students, and parents/carers.

Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the development of individual support plans for students identified as being at risk.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.

A good understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to schools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, staff, parents/carers.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage confidential information securely.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
