We are looking for a nurse with experience and a passion for working with people who have a learning disability. We have worked in partnership with our colleagues at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust to develop what is now an established community and hospital liaison rotational post. Both posts are be hosted by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and we are currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse to join the Southampton City Community Learning Disability Team and the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Learning Disability and Autism liaison team. The post holder will undertake the roles on a 6 monthly rotational basis. The post holders are expected to comply with all relevant Trust policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to the location of the rotational post. You will receive regular support from colleagues, and supervision from the Senior Nurse in both organisations reflecting the location of the post. We are one of only a few NHS Trusts in the country to offer fully funded leadership and management qualifications to staff. We support with NMC Revalidation, and Continuing Professional Development is a high priority within the team and Trust.Main duties of the jobThe role of the Community nurse is to work within the learning disability team undertaking comprehensive assessments, interpreting, planning and implementing nursing treatment and care to service users who require an adapted learning disability service. The role also requires the nurse to mentor, supervise and support junior nurses, student nurses and support workers. While working in the community you will be working along side members of our multidisciplinary team to support people with a learning disability with a range of health issues. You will manage your own case load and manage your own time.
