As one of the most ethnically diverse local authorities in England, with a vibrant and youthful population, we strive to provide inclusive and effective services tailored to the needs of our community.Purpose: As a pivotal member of the Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service, the Reviewing Service Manager will lead a team dedicated to providing independent, high-quality services for children subject to child protection plans and those looked after by the local authority. Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance and Safeguarding, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in evaluating and assuring the quality of our child protection and looked after children services.Main Accountabilities:Provide strong leadership for the service area, ensuring clear vision and outcomes for children on child protection plans and children looked after.Manage the administration and chairing of child protection conferences and statutory reviews of looked after children, in compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.Offer supervision and professional support to Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs) and Child Protection Chairs.Champion the voices of children and young people within procedures, ensuring their views are considered and acted upon.Provide consultation, advice, and information to operational staff and other agencies on matters related to child protection and looked after children.Lead on projects supporting continuous improvement and development of the Reviewing Service and organizational priorities.Embed a culture of learning and reflection, sharing best practices across the organization.Collaborate with partners to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and provide robust challenge when necessary.Person Specification:Significant experience at a management level in children's services.Proven track record of successful collaboration with partner organizations.Demonstrated ability to manage change and optimize service quality.Effective management of staff, resolving conflicts and priorities.Understanding of equal opportunities in employment and service delivery.Knowledge of public sector policy and performance frameworks in children's services.Professional Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England.Management Qualification and PEPS trained or willingness to complete.Our Values:Child-focused: Putting the voice of the child at the heart of everything we do.Honest and respectful: Creating an inclusive culture where everyone's opinions are respected.Improving constantly: Aspiring for continuous improvement and learning from mistakes.Looking ahead: Anticipating challenges and identifying opportunities for future-proofing.Delivering together: Working collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.If you are passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives and possess the skills and experience to lead our Reviewing Service, we encourage you to apply.To apply for this role contact Phil Puaca at Ackerman Pierce on (phone number removed) or
