You will be boundaried, allowing others to carry out their role and make decisions but will be able to support, nurture and develop the team and/or individual.Your strong people skills will allow your team to collaborate, feel supported and have room to grow. You will be able to manage others, engage in difficult conversation and resolve issues effectively to ensure the smooth running of each home.Main Purpose of the RoleWorking under the direction of the Director of Children’s Services, the Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective and efficient running of the children's home. They are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing staff, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of the staff and the children in the home. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Director of Children's Services to maintain high standards of care and to help create a safe and nurturing environment for the children.The Operations Manager in a children's home plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the care and support provided to vulnerable children is of the highest standard. This position requires a dedicated and experienced professional who is committed to upholding the wellbeing and rights of the children under their care, while also contributing to the overall mission and vision of the organisation. This role demands a high level of accountability and integrity, as well as the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the children's home.To work with the Director of Children’s Services to ensure that the young people in our charge have the best possible care experience to enable them to Build a Brighter Future.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMain DutiesTo visit homes as directed by the Director of Children’s Services and provide support as requiredTo follow and understand our frameworks, policies and procedures and ensure that they are imbedded culturallyRegular Meetings with internal professionalsDevelop and implement operational plans and procedures in line with the organization's policies and regulatory requirements.Oversee the day-to-day operations of the children's home, including staff scheduling, resource management, and maintenance of the facility.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of operational systems and processes, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.Operational ResponsibilitiesTrain, and supervise staff, ensuring that they are equipped to provide high-quality care and support for the children.Conduct regular performance reviews and provide guidance and support to staff members to encourage their professional development.Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among the staff.Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards governing the operation of children's homes.Work closely with the Director of Children's Services to address any issues or concerns related to regulatory compliance and to implement best practices in the care of children.Using data from compliance with you experience Identify and address potential risks within the homes, taking proactive measures to mitigate these risks and prevent harm.CommunicationFoster positive relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities, external agencies, and support services, to promote collaborative working and the best possible outcomes for the children.Communicate effectively with the Director of Children's Services, providing regular updates on operational matters and seeking guidance on key decisions.Person SpecificationQualifications & ExperienceDegree level education or equivalent would be advantageousExtensive experience in social work, social care, or a related fieldSubstantial experience in a management role within a children's home or a similar residential care settingA sound understanding of relevant legislation and regulations governing the care of children, as well as best practice guidelines in safeguarding and child protectionDemonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Skills and AttributesA sound understanding of relevant legislation and regulations governing the care of children, as well as best practice guidelines in safeguarding and child protection.Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Other requirementsCommitment to safeguarding childrenBe passionate about teaching and providing the best possible opportunities for all young peopleA commitment to the Residential Services’ ethos and visonResilient and positive
