I'm currently recruiting for a dedicated and empathetic Residential Childcare Worker to join a fantastic children's home in Southampton, supporting young people between the ages of 11-18 with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will be working with a well established organisation within children's Residential support.
**Due to the nature of this job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full UK manual driver's licence**
I'm searching for an OUTGOING and DRIVEN individual who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people, enabling them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they are PUT FIRST.
You must be committed, passionate, engaging, encouraging and want to act as a mentor to the young people… whilst having a whole lot of fun along the way!
Salary: £29,500 - £31,000 (sleep-in shift bonus included)
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Hours: Full-Time
Contract: Permanent
Shift pattern: 4-week rolling rota, including sleep-in shifts

Responsibilities of a Residential Childcare Worker:

  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.


Requirements:

  • Experience as a Residential Childcare Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Southampton, Hampshire.
