We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate.
These challenges need the bold research our funding supports, but they won’t be solved by science alone. The Prevention team, part of the Infectious Diseases Health Challenge are recruiting research managers to support their work in both Vaccines and Human Infection Studies. These positions will support a dynamic range of projects that seek to better understand protective immunity.
We are looking for up to 3 Research Managers to support the Prevention programme specifically in the Human Challenge programme (1 role) and the Vaccines programme (2 roles).
The Human Challenge Programme which includes a portfolio of Human Challenge Studies in endemic settings, supporting global regulatory strengthening activities for these studies and driving the utility of these studies in the licensure pathway for vaccines and other preventatives more broadly.
The Vaccines programme includes workstreams seeking to improve the vaccine development ecosystem (including manufacturing, the conduct of clinical trials, and vaccine regulation), a portfolio of product development projects, and to ensure equitable, evidence-based use of vaccines.
In this role you will work with the team to
Manage the current programme of projects within Prevention
Assist in convening meetings/workshops
Review and assess funding applications
Draft reports
Scope potential areas for strategic funding
Liaise with internal and external groups/individuals as required
Flexibly support the integrated work of the Prevention team regarding vaccines and antibodies
To be successful in this role you will have
Have a scientific background in infectious disease and understanding/knowledge on tools for prevention e.g., vaccines, mAbs
Understanding of clinical research and trials
Project management experience is advantageous
Experience of working/funding in low-and-middle income country is an asset.
