segments.
Alloys (bulk and noble) is witnessing solid growth on the back of steel as well as non-ferrous alloys and
batteries.
Industry stakeholders across the value chain will need to understand the key drivers and trends impacting the industry in both the near term and long term. Miners, steelmakers, auto firms, investment bank, and financial institutions will need to be well versed with research and analytics for more informed decision making.
The Research Manager – Steel Alloys will apply solid analytical capabilities and knowledge to enhance Wood Mackenzie's analysis and services to
customers.
Reporting directly to the Head of Steel and Raw Materials, you will be responsible for developing a good understanding of our clients’ interests and provide frequent, rigorous, and sharply written analysis as part of our publication schedules. You will also lead innovative and differentiated trends, insights, and thought leadership articles and publications. Apart from being an individual contributor you will also run a small pool of analysts in this space. Main
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive coverage of the Steel Alloys sector (noble and bulk alloys). Deep understanding of Chromium will be an added
advantage.
Author differentiated market analysis and thought leadership pieces on topical themes surrounding the alloys space. Mentor and run a small team of analysts in alloys space. Develop and maintain contacts with industry stakeholders to gather intelligence that will enrich the quality and timeliness of our research solutions. Effectively communicate our research and analysis to clients. Participate in supporting sales and marketing activities including events. Collaborate and work with our consultancy business on periodic projects. Work closely with colleagues in allied groups like steel and non-ferrous metals to help shape the company’s integrated view.
Qualifications Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mining/ Geology/ Metallurgical Engineering or Economics/ Business etc.) Detailed knowledge of ferrous industry especially alloys Team management experience Collaborative personality who builds a very healthy team culture. Excellent numerical analytic capabilities, including problem-solving and technical skills in Excel Presentation experience Systemic work-load management and planning skills The ability to work as part of a team, which will involve multiple locations and time zones Good networked in the industry with contacts across the value chain A strong commitment to commercial excellence and ability to deliver the high-quality
