Job Purpose:
To provide logistical, technical, engineering, and agronomic support to the Research Station & Farm. Work effectively as a team member to support field & protected research activities as directed by the R&D Station Manager and/or nominated Research Agronomist.
Job Description:
Support the day to day logistical operations of the Station, and provide recommendations as required for any purchases of needed equipment
Work with the Station Manager to ensure the cost-effective execution of research activities at the Station, Accountable for the effective execution of any specified logistical, engineering and agronomic activity at the Station, taking direction from the Station Manager or relevant Research Agronomist
Supporting field teams as needed in order to ensure that high quality trials are implemented and maintained
Maintaining good communication with the Station manager and Research teams
Ensure that all activities at the site are compliant with corporate rules and that a safe working environment is maintained and all necessary EHS rules are established and followed
Ensure maintenance schedules are outlined and maintained and good record keeping of works on all equipment
Problem solving and finding solutions for improvement in equipment use and field operations
Utilising station software and tools to log and record field tasks and duties accordingly throughout the season
Ensure safe and compliant use and storage of all chemical products by maintaining a zero tolerance for any contaminations at and around the site
Good organisation and computer skills (Excel, Word)
Working to support field and glasshouse studies on range of crops including Cereals, Potatoes, Oilseed Rape, Sugar Beet, Maize, Fruit and Vegetables
Staying up to date with and working within relevant field methodologies, country guidelines and Good Agricultural Practice
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience in arable operations and crop husbandry in a comparable role or background
English (CEFR B2, equivalent or higher)
PA1 - NPTC Certificate
PA6 - NPTC Certificate
PA2 – NPTC Certificate
NPTC Certificate in Agricultural Tractor Driving and Related Operations (City & Guilds, 001407), or equivalent
Full UK Drivers Licence
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Experience and use of a wide range Agricultural equipment / machinery
Experience with Irrigation systems
Engineering / Mechanical Skills
PA9, PA4 NPTC Certificates
