Senior Research Engineer – Startup LLM - £130k +equity – Remote (UK/EU)

The challenge
The rise of AI has skyrocketed demand for computational power. However, current solutions are expensive and dominated by large corporations. We're tackling this challenge by building a decentralized marketplace for compute power specifically designed for large language models (LLMs) with billions of parameters.
We’re a US HQ’d Startup, part of a successful Web3 incubator, which was founded by a successful tech entrepreneur. We’re looking for a Senior Research Engineer to be part of our founding team, joining our CEO, CTO, COO and Principal Engineer.
About you
You’ll draw on your research experience to drive the design of the platform and tailor it to be most efficient for LLMs.
You’ll have researched quantization techniques, pruning and optimizing models for GPU usage and be familiar with things like swarm parallelism and understand how to reduce active parameters.
You’ll be able to predict the consequences of taking particular shortcuts, define memory footprint and estimate how cache will increase to be able to design the right optimisations.
The platform will be built on Blockchain technology, but we’re not expecting you to have experience with this. What we are looking for is:
A solid background in Foundational NLP
Strong research background in ML quantization, PEFT etc
Familiar with inference servers such as multi-LoRa and LoRA Exchange
Possess a deep understanding of the pain points of LLM-GPU usage – optimization frameworks, scaling considerations, VRAM capacity, and data movement
Experience working with some of the more recent LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, LLaMA etc)
You’ll be a founding member of the team that have secured $2.5 million dollars pre-seed, and will receive equity in the business. You’ll be working remotely, with others in the team being spread across, US (East Coast), Dubai and Europe.
