Reinsurance Broker, Facultative - Marine Practice

This newly created role is to support and assist the London marine practice leader and chairman across all facets of the marine product-line management.  Based in London, the appointed candidate will work closely with the marine leader and chairman in developing strategic growth plans, support and drive sales and placement initiatives in conjunction with and for local GC  office’s where appropriate.  As well as supporting strategic discussions and drive initiatives, it is also expected the candidate will have the ability to provide team oversight on tasks including placement as well as offering ideas and direction to colleagues within the team.What can you expect? It’s expected that the candidate will have the desire to grow into product line management.What you will be rewarded with?Competitive Benefits Package including: 27 days annual leave, up to 4 days flexible bank holidays, excellent pension contributions, private medical cover, life assurance, income protection, employee assistance program, plus a range of flexible benefits including the option to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday per year, cycle to work, dental insurance, health assessments plus many more.Generous Family Leave including:  6 months paid maternity leave, 4 months paid paternity leave, 6 months paid adoption leave plus shared parental leave options.  To help ease the transition when you return to work you will be able to work 8 weeks at 80% of your normal work pattern and receive 100% of your normal salary.We will rely on you to:Work closely with marine leadership in developing strategic growth plans, support and drive growth and placement initiatives in conjunction with and for local GC offices.Actively contribute and take accountability for strategic discussions and seek out opportunities of growth.Work with relevant stakeholders to position the marine product line firmly into strategic and client discussions/plans.Identify and develop technical training exercises with key individuals to expand marine expertise beyond product line experts where applicable.Responsible for and convenes the internal pre-meetings before the renewal strategy meetingWork with other product leaders, understand GC Fac and the wider GC organisation with a view to product expansion, multi-line offerings and strategies where appropriateImplement agreed regional strategies into countries/regions where applicableDevelop, maintain and lead relationships both internally and externally.What you need to have: Placement/Market:Assist in the oversight of the team’s placement activities and support with strategic and market discussions when appropriate.Lead larger clients enquiries to ensure best solutions are provided.Review client’s exposures and loss experience against current types of coverage and analyse risk to determine products and service requirements.In conjunction with the client and/or relevant stakeholder, develop broking plans in response to client needs and gains client’s approval.Receives, negotiates and evaluates quotes from the carrier or the broking centre and presents a recommendation to client.Communicates the broking plan to clients, brokers and carriers, as appropriate.Recognizes and explains additional revenue opportunities.Client:Visit existing clients and new prospects where appropriate.Leads risk identification process in area of marine.Delivers daily service to the GC offices and clients for the specific product line that assures that their risk management needs are appropriate met.Implements/manages and maintains a quality post-sales service plan where appropriate.Adheres to marsh Professional Standards and Marsh Excellence protocols.Creates and presents renewal proposals to existing clients and participates in presentations to prospective clients.Keeps abreast of changing market conditions and informs client executives carriers, brokers and/or clients of major development affecting various types of coverage.Identifies the need for new products and suggests solutions to brokers, clients and carriers.What makes you stand out: Bachelor degree or equivalent in any discipline.Comparable experience in marine broking or underwriting industry.Hull & Machinery, cargo, ports and terminals experience required.Proficient in PC Skills, including MS Office.Possesses solid insurance brokerage, account management, servicing and sales skills.Ambitious, solution focused and with strong skills in client relationship management.About us:Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC is a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist with more than 3,100 professionals in over 60 offices around the world.
