As Centre Manager, you'll lead the development of this exciting change and play a vital role in making a difference for pets and their owners.More about the role Established in 1986, our Bromsgrove Rehoming Centre has been a cornerstone of support for pets and their owners, serving as a vital resource in the community. Located in 9 acres of rural countryside, our Bromsgrove rehoming centre provides care for up to 15 dogs and 30 cats onsite, complemented by a dedicated puppy and kitten unit. Through our Home Direct scheme and foster network, we are dedicated to ensuring every pet finds a loving home, while providing essential support to pet owners.In this role, you'll oversee rehoming and fostering services, ensuring growth while maintaining the highest standards of care. You'll lead a team of dedicated individuals, including both employees and volunteers, who are the backbone of our centre.Your role is crucial in fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where each team member can excel. With your leadership skills and experience, you'll empower our team to thrive in their roles and contribute to our shared vision of animal welfare excellence.This role comes with option of onsite accommodation—a three-bedroom house with two reception rooms and a small private garden.For further details about this exciting opportunity, please refer to the attached job description.
About you
You will be deeply passionate and committed to the well being of pets and their owners, reflecting our charity's dedication to making a meaningful difference in their lives.You will have exceptional people management skills, developed through previous roles in animal welfare related settings. Your leadership style will reflect positivity, innovation, and effective communication across all levels of the team. Your ability to lead diverse teams and commitment to developing and empowering others through adept management and coaching are paramount. Your business management skills will encompass analytical, commercial insight, and a rigorous approach to problem-solving.You will demonstrate emotional intelligence and adeptness in providing effective support to colleagues and the public. Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing teams within animal welfare settings.
Deep understanding of animal welfare and care, ensuring operational excellence.
Adaptable approach to managing complex tasks and tight deadlines in a changing environment.
Experience of positively embracing and adapting to change by identifying, leading, and managing change in line with organisational objectives.
Financially literate with experience in cost control and service delivery.
Effective collaborator with colleagues from diverse teams.
Strong interpersonal skills for communication, negotiation, and influencing.
Experience in emotionally charged environments, demonstrating empathy and resilience.
Current full driving licence.
Although not essential, it would be great if you also had:
Relevant animal related qualification.
Experience of working effectively with and/or managing volunteers.
Experience of acting as a spokesperson in print and broadcast media.
Experience of keeping up to date with and applying good practice in your sector/role and encouraging those that you manage to do the same.
IT literate with good experience of MS Office and other relevant IT systems as appropriate for the role.
Understanding of safeguarding issues.
